As an undergraduate student at The Florida State University, I am double majoring in Music and Editing, Writing, and Media, both of which allow me to follow two of my greatest passions. It is my hope to put both of these majors to use in a career that requires musicianship and expansive knowledge of music theory and history as well as experience with several types of media and strong writing skills. Discover both of my majors in greater detail below.
My Majors
Music
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Music provides a thorough understanding of music history and theory and ample performance experience while also allowing room to explore other major areas of study. As a student in this degree program, I have taken courses such as Music Theory I-IV, Sightsinging, Survey of Music Literature, Music History, World Music Cultures, and Choral Conducting. I have also received individual instruction in both composition and classical voice and have completed two successful voice juries judged by faculty members.

Editing, Writing, and Media
The Editing, Writing, and Media major is a concentration that reinvents the English major for the purposes of today's fast-growing digital media. Though a focus is still maintained on traditional writing, editing, and rhetorical skills, students experiment with adapting these for use with a variety of texts, especially digital ones, bolstered by knowledge of cultural and technological history. Core classes for this major include Writing and Editing in Print and Online, Rhetoric, and History of Text Technologies, while more advanced courses include Advanced Writing and Editing and Visual Rhetoric in the Digital Age. Completion of the degree program concludes with a writing or editing internship.
